How much wax do I need for a candle?
It depends on your container size and wax type. Soy wax is lighter than paraffin, so you need less weight for the same volume. This calculator does the conversion for you.
What percentage of fragrance oil should I use?
Most wax types handle 6–10% fragrance load. Soy 464 maxes out at 10–12%. Start at 8% for a good scent throw and adjust from there.
How do I choose the right wick size?
Wick size depends on container diameter, not depth. A wider container needs a bigger wick (or multiple wicks) to create a full melt pool. Use the Wick Size tab for recommendations.
Why does my candle have wet spots?
Wet spots are where wax pulls away from the glass. They are cosmetic only. Pouring at a lower temperature and preheating jars helps reduce them.
What temperature should I pour candles?
It varies by wax type. Soy: 120–140°F. Paraffin: 170–180°F. See our pour temperature reference table.
